Leather: To Wear or Not To Wear?

One of Fall 2010 Fashion must-haves is LEATHER!

From jackets, to skirts, to leggings or boots, leather has been seen on all the models.  Despite the fact that designers make the trend seem like "anything goes," we must remember that being on a college campus requires us to wear it a certain way...

This is especially true since the slightest error can make leather can go from fashionable and chic, to hardcore biker and masculine.

So how to wear leather...

The best ways to soften the intensity of a leather jacket would be
1. Matching a floral print top or dress with a leather jacket.
2. Mixing in softer, more feminine textures such as a silk or chiffon top.
3. Accessorize with feminine pieces like a scarf, headband, or even a cross body purse.
4. Add COLOR! If all else fails just remember to add  COLOR!

In the picture above you can see that we matched a Burberry scarf and a cross body bag with a "biker-style" leather jacket.
This keeps the jacket looking high fashion by adding simple accessories, as well as warming up the look with the neutral colors in the scarf.

Also we added a black cross body purse to give it a light feminine touch (not completely in picture).

The major DON'TS of leather
1. Make sure it fits! leather thats too tight or too loose is a complete catastrophe!
2. Avoid leather over-kill!  Your leather jacket, boots, or other accessory should be the focal point of your outfit (for example, don't wear black leather boots with a black leather jacket...unless of course you are wearing a girly dress or something to break-up the look).

Leather Jacket Outfit Ideas:
1. Jacket + a black camisole/ black shirt + cheetah leggings + black heels/flats
2. Jacket +  a nice form fitting dress (like the ones from American Apparel) + heels/boots
3. Jacket + silk/chiffon, embellished shirt + dark wash jeans + flats

Oh Crap, Class starts in 30 minutes!

Ever thought you hit the snooze button when in fact you turned your alarm and your roommate wakes you up with thirty minutes till class starts? You know that panicked feeling when you know your just going to look like crap? Well here are the necessities that you can do in a few minutes so you still look fashionable and exceptional in the Queens' eyes:

1. Obviously, you should brush your teeth and wash your face as soon as you jump out of bed so you can feel fresh, awake, and ready to make the most out of these minutes you have left!

2. Hopefully, while you brushed your teeth you thought about your most accessible outfit you can piece together quickly.
Examples of these would be (for fall):

a. jeans with a fitted t-shirt/ graphic tee and a cardigan
b. black leggings, a long sweater, and boots
c.  jeans (or leggings) and a cute jacket (blazer, trench, peacoat) *notice that we did not say sweatshirt*

3. Accessorize quickly by adding a cute headband (if your gonna rock an effortless bun at least throw in an accessory!)

4. Put the bare essentials on for make up so you don't look like you've just woken up!

a. mascara
b. lip gloss

Hopefully these quick tips can save you from a complete disaster on campus a.k.a. looking lazy and tired

Professors always appreciate those students who look dressed and ready to learn than the sloppy ones that literally role out of bed!

Remember sweatpants and sweatshirts are pretty much never acceptable...
