From jackets, to skirts, to leggings or boots, leather has been seen on all the models. Despite the fact that designers make the trend seem like "anything goes," we must remember that being on a college campus requires us to wear it a certain way...
This is especially true since the slightest error can make leather can go from fashionable and chic, to hardcore biker and masculine.
So how to wear leather...
The best ways to soften the intensity of a leather jacket would be
1. Matching a floral print top or dress with a leather jacket.
2. Mixing in softer, more feminine textures such as a silk or chiffon top.
3. Accessorize with feminine pieces like a scarf, headband, or even a cross body purse.
4. Add COLOR! If all else fails just remember to add COLOR!
In the picture above you can see that we matched a Burberry scarf and a cross body bag with a "biker-style" leather jacket.
This keeps the jacket looking high fashion by adding simple accessories, as well as warming up the look with the neutral colors in the scarf.
Also we added a black cross body purse to give it a light feminine touch (not completely in picture).
The major DON'TS of leather
1. Make sure it fits! leather thats too tight or too loose is a complete catastrophe!
2. Avoid leather over-kill! Your leather jacket, boots, or other accessory should be the focal point of your outfit (for example, don't wear black leather boots with a black leather jacket...unless of course you are wearing a girly dress or something to break-up the look).
Leather Jacket Outfit Ideas:
1. Jacket + a black camisole/ black shirt + cheetah leggings + black heels/flats
2. Jacket + a nice form fitting dress (like the ones from American Apparel) + heels/boots
3. Jacket + silk/chiffon, embellished shirt + dark wash jeans + flats
